I like this soft cross process and I might want to use it on more images.
Going even a step farther, I play with the hue of the highlight and change the image even more. I don’t get rid of it all together since the green is desaturated in the saturation panel. I reduce the saturation of that effect and now I am happy. Moving on, we’ll try the Split Toning Panel:ĭing, ding, ding, ding, ding! There it is! Green is added to the highlights. I keep in mind that Lightroom is working with a huge color space as opposed to sRGB which is how the web and a lot of printers operate, so even if it’s not blown in Lightroom, it might be in sRGB or another smaller color space.įix: I tried to adjust the tint slider toward magenta but that did NOT work. I push it so it’s bright – nearly climbing the wall. Brightness affects midtones while exposure is brightening the entire range of tones. Too much can create a grayish cast on the skin and accentuate any blemishes or blotchiness.įix: Brightness or Exposure. Here’s my SOOC (straight out of the camera): I find this one to be pretty representational of edgy, cross processed Lightroom presets that you can buy. I am going to use the color creative – Color CP2 preset that came with the program since everyone has it and I’m not giving up any secrets of the presets I have bought. It’s supposed to replicate the look of a jpeg. This adds +50 brightness, +25 contrast, +5 blacks, a medium contrast tone curve, some sharpening and color noise reduction to every picture you import into Lightroom. If you’ve never messed with your import preset, then you are probably importing with which is actually the adobe default. Know your importing preset so you can diagnose what the preset did. You need to dissect what the preset just did and what went wrong and what you don’t like.ĥ. Unlike actions that you run in photoshop, presets are an all or nothing kind of thing. If your SOOC is underexposed and has a huge yellow cast, fix that first, then try a preset.Ĥ. You should start off with a properly exposed image with good white balance first. Conversely, presets are made for raw and you shoot jpeg.ģ.
Some presets are made for jpeg and you shoot raw. Most preset sellers do/should test out them out on other people’s images to check their universality, but one size isn’t always going to fit all.Ģ. So if you shoot differently or have different equipment, they won’t translate like you’d expect. Presets are created by photographers for their images and the way they shoot. They love the photographer and the sample images and they just can’t replicate it with their own photos.
We always read on the CM forum about photographers not loving the presets that they purchased.
